TRUE LOVE…

I have written already several posts on this topic and always I feel that there is still something left behind. Love is a vast topic to talk about and can be defined in so many ways as per our experiences, thoughts & observations. Whoever fell in love feels that he/she is at the peak and in true love but most of the times when they have to face any problem in the journey of love or they’re been examine they failed. True love is not mean/selfish at all, expectations is something natural but I guess when we are truly in love with someone we don’t see what we’re getting in return of our love, we just keep on loving and caring that person no matter how he/she is responding us. True love is sacrifice, its trust, and there are no conditions in true love. We can like anyone on the basis of his/her good qualities that he/she holds but we love anyone without any reason, when we love someone we accept him/her along with both good and bad qualities, and we never judge our love ones. I always say love makes our life meaningful and beautiful but besides this is also a fact that love brings us pains as well that we bear happily, our both happiness and sorrows are attached/linked with that person.

Yesterday I was reading a book that was compiled of several true love stories and one of the story that truly inspired me and helped me to understand true love that I am sharing here as well. This story is basically written by a doctor and I am copying it here for you all as it is been written by him in his own words. Hope you all going to like it too. So here it is:

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 a.m., when an elderly gentleman in his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him look at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.

On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.

I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer' s Disease .

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are? "

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, " She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is." I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, "That is the kind of love I want in my life."

True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

true love comes to its element when the going is tough.....it is so true that the good and the bad come as a package....some people past the test and some don't..

//True love is neither physical, nor romantic.//

...thanks for this very important point. I'll need to remember this..

Hi Tim,

I have observed and I do believe that to celebrate with us in our happy moments we can have many but only people who truly love us and have care for us remains with us in our tough & hard times. It's very true that love is neither physical nor romance, it's something much more then of it that rarely people understand now a days...

I am glad you understood the post, intelligent haan :)

Thanks for adding your precious views to the post.

Take care

I dare not to say what love is. I liked what you wrote. I also liked the movies 'notebook' and '50 first dates', somewhat similar to the story you shared. Now, I know what blessed profession you've.

Samrina: Such a touching tale. One of the best descriptions of true love I have seen. I was quite moved, and the elderly man should provide an example for any of us.
